October 4, 2002 - Marriage Benefits Both Sexes: Feminist theory loses ground again with the results of the new study recently published in the Australian journal "Family Matters." Feminists were at one time eager to jump on the "marriage is oppressive to women" bandwagon after feminist "scholar," (and I always use the term "scholar" loosely when referring to feminist researchers), Jessie Bernard, theorized in her 1972 best-seller, "The Future of Marriage," that marriage was an institution only beneficial to men. Since that time, other studies have been done that prove otherwise, but feminists have continued to reject the results, preferring to push anything that promotes the female as a victim. I find it difficult to believe that they will be able to discount this new study, which involved 10,641 people. The study looked at disorders based on WHO definitions and found that married males and married females have the same rate of disorder, but that the gender typical disorders were different. Divorced people had a higher rate of disorder (25%), as did singles with 22%, than married men and women with 13%. While the results show that clearly marriage benefits both men and women emotionally, it is not yet clear whether or not those in the other categories have higher rates of disorder because they have other problems which cause them to shy away from marriage. However, it may just be that what we were saying all along is true. Children raised in the past 2 decades or so tend to stay unmarried until later in life because over 50% of them have been traumatized by divorcing parents. Pairing off is a natural biological urge with the enhanced benefits of emotional, psychological and spiritual benefits going to both partners. The unnatural waiting period that the current generation of eligible bachelors and bachelorettes is experiencing is stressful, but this is what feminist thought has presented them with ~ the fear of commitment to marriage.

March 16, 2001 - From The Federalist: "In Arkansas, jury selection began in the trial of Joshua Macabe Brown, one of two homosexuals charged with the 1999 rape/murder of 13-year-old Jesse Dirkhising. You may recall, the two sociopaths tortured, raped and murdered the child, yet the Leftmedia gave the case scant mention, despite the yearlong media feeding frenzy over the murder of a homosexual man in Wyoming -- fodder for Clinton's "hate crimes" legislation.

March 15, 2001 - The House Ways & Means Committee will soon be considering the so-called "Marriage Penalty Tax." This issue has been spun backwards and forwards. My question is this: If the traditional household sacrifices and scrapes by on one income so the mother can remain home with children, why then, should their dual-income neighbors not pay more in taxes than they do?
